Last week, the author stated that we have to create our own
opportunities. On Tuesday night, she
created an opportunity for herself. The
author has stretched herself to meet new people and attend events. She knows one of the best ways to meet people
is through volunteering.
Coach’s Night for the Fort Worth A&M Club was last
Tuesday night at Billy Bobs. The author
signed up to volunteer at general admission.
Since there were not many people with general admission tickets, she was
transferred to the VIP section. After
helping to register, she asked where her table was to eat dinner as she bought
a ticket to participate. The person she
was assisting had a blank look on his face and was not sure where to send the
author. He quickly thought and told her
and another volunteer to go sit at a table where people he knew had extra seats. When the author and her new acquaintance
arrived at the table, the author looked up and saw that she was on the front
row to hear Texas A&M football coach, Jimbo Fisher. Talking with the other guests at the table,
she met a couple ladies from the Chamber of Commerce where the author may look
to buy a home and they are happy to assist her however they can.
Through simply volunteering, the author had new opportunities
that she would never have had if she did not volunteered.
