For the
best return on your money, pour your purse into your head. ― Benjamin Franklin
A mentor
is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.
Oprah
Winfrey
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a mentor is:
someone who teaches or gives help and advice to a less experienced and often
younger person.
Recently, I heard a motivational speaker use the below idea
that she had heard to provide a different perspective on mentoring:
I have spent time with Michael Jordan, John Maxwell, Oral Roberts, T.D.
Jakes and Bill Gates. I’ve never met any of them, but I listen to their CDs
every morning for 20 minutes while driving to work. I read their books in every
pocket of time I can find. - Erik Lawson
Think about how amazing this perspective is. Daily we can all take time to be mentored by
successful people about business, fashion, politics, etc. via various
technology resources such as YouTube, websites, TED Talks that are simply at the
touch of our fingertips.
Challenge: As part of your daily routine, find 20
or 30 minutes while driving, preparing meals, exercising, etc., to learn from
successful people. We do not have to be
face to face with mentors to be able to learn from their success.
We must
keep on learning for self-development. ―
