Terri's Tuesday Tip of the Week - March 22, 2022

Regardless of our titles or years of experience, we can learn from each other. Through mentoring and by being open to learn where we can reach our ultimate potential. –Lily Benjamin

Don’t listen to what people say.  Watch what they do. – picture quotes.com

Last week, the author talked about mentoring in mainly a professional setting.  Now, let’s look at it from the personal perspective.  When the author returned to Texas, she immediately started attending different groups so that she could meet people.  One specific place she has meet people is at her church.  Previously, she had volunteered at a church and met great people so she started weekly serving again.  Through this, she has met great ladies that she is learning from based on their personal lives and even some of them in a professional setting.

The reader might ask how are these individuals mentoring the author.  These “mentors” are a diverse mixture of married and single individuals from all walks of life that have lived different stories and many of them have families.  The author is intentional in gaining wisdom of how they have lived life as working women, with their children and their relationships with their spouses.  One of the ladies has a great husband that has become an acquaintance to the author because his sense of humor is wonderful.  From these different individuals, the author is preparing for growth and new opportunities in her personal life.

For these situations, there is not a monthly coffee where the author asks questions.  She watches how each of these individuals live their lives and incorporates traits that she sees into her life.

I no longer listen to what people say, I just watch what they do.  Behavior never lies. – Winston Churchill

ACTION: This week, take time to see who in your personal life is a mentor.  How do you intentionally gain wisdom from these individuals that you are able to incorporate into your life?
