Terri's Tuesday Tip of the Week - July 22nd

My Fair Lady…
I’m starting to watch old movies and saw My Fair Lady for the first time over the weekend.  Audrey Hepburn is a wonderful example of a lady for all of us.

Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn) makes the statement to Colonel Pickering, "The difference between a lady and a flower girl is not how she behaves, but how she's treated. I shall always be a flower girl to Professor Higgins, because he always treats me as a flower girl, and always will, but I know I can be a lady to you, because you always treat me as a lady, and always will."

Professor Higgins reshaped Eliza’s self-image by teaching her to speak proper English, etiquette, dressing in high society gowns.  Eliza grew from being a coarse, lower-class flower vendor on the streets of London to being a lovely, desirable young lady in society.  Through this transformation, Colonel Pickering taught her self-respect and her growth mindset helped her see the potential she had to go teach others the same thing Professor Higgins had taught her.

Never let anyone take away your self-respect because you are just like the transformed Eliza Doolittle…..a lovely, desirable lady doing amazing thing!
