Sometimes you have to take a break and breathe before you can keep moving forward. - Kayla Panchisin
I want to be remembered as a person who
felt there was no limitation to what the human body and mind can do and be the
inspiration to lead people to do things they never hoped to do. - Carl Lewis
Now that the reader has taken on a big challenge to accomplish before the end of the year, fear and anxiety may have overcome them. The natural tendency is to tense up, stress out and slow down when one gets close to the finish. However, that is not the most advantageous thing to do.
Carl Lewis was a
track and field runner that competed between 1979 and 1996. During this time, he won nine Olympic gold medals
and one silver. According to a BBC TWO
interview, Carol Lewis would decelerate much slower than everyone else. Why is this important? When a runner comes close to the finish line,
the natural tendency is to slow down.
However, Lewis was known for slowing down at a much slower pace than all
of the other runners. This was important
because he might look like he was going to lose the race, but he would pull it
out at the end when the other runners were slowing down.
My thoughts before a big race are
usually pretty simple. I tell myself: Get out of the blocks, run your race,
stay relaxed. If you run your race, you'll win... channel your energy. Focus. -
Carl Lewis
Why would the
author bring up a running technique?
Because this is a great way to accomplish the goal the reader wants to
accomplish before the end of the year.
Carl Lewis was very efficient with his time and energy when he was
running that it almost looked effortless for him to run. As the reader works on this new
goal/dream/project, find the most efficient ways to work and relax. Efficiency will help the reader accomplish
more in a shorter amount of time.
