Don’t stop when you’re tired; stop when you’re done. – Marilyn Monroe

Circumstances will never be just right. If you wait for the perfect time to commit to an idea, you’ll be waiting forever! - Craig Groeschel

What is the reader willing to do to accomplish their dreams?

There is an interesting legend about Hernán Cortés and his conquest of Mexico in 1519.  According to various sources, the conquest began when his men conquered Veracruz, which is a coastal region in the Gulf of Mexico across from Cuba.  His binary mission included the military conquest of the territory and the subjects of the land plus the spiritual seizing of the nation for the Catholic Church.

This was a hard mission and his crew had many obstacles to overcome.  Once Cortés conquered Veracruz, his next action was to sink all of the ships used to deliver his crew to the coastal region.  The intent was the men would have no option to quit and would overcome every obstacle they faced.

Many may think this is very extreme; however, his point was evident.  Whatever the goal, commit to it and be 110% engaged to accomplish it.  A way to accomplish the goal will become clear if the reader does not quit.

If you commit to the what and are consumed by your why, you will figure out the how! - Craig Groeschel

What is the reader willing to “burn” to accomplish their 2022 goals and lifelong dreams?

A note from the author….one dream the author has had for a very long time has not come to pass yet.  In various ways, the author has “burned” the ship, but it has not changed the situation because likely it has not been the right time.

The reader can do things that will put them in positions to have no option but to accomplish their goals.  However, the reader often has to have other people assist in accomplishing our dreams and goals and those individuals do not always move at the same pace as goal-driven individuals.  The author is not saying not to go all in, but understand that if we have to rely on other people that may not have the same vision and drive.  The goal may not be accomplished at the pace the reader desires.

ACTION:  Determine how you will “burn” a ship in 2022 to accomplish a goal and then implement the plan.

Ignore the noise, focus on your work. – Anonymous

Success has less to do with what we can get ourselves to do and more to do with keeping ourselves from doing what we shouldn’t. - Kenneth Cole

Now that the reader has a plan for what to accomplish for the rest of year, how will they focus to accomplish their plan?  As the author has talked about over the years, a big plan is great, but it is important to break down goals and action plans into smaller parts to accomplish goals and tasks.

The author still becomes overwhelmed when she sees a big task in front of her to complete.  When she steps back, breaks down tasks into smaller pieces and creates a list, she is able to focus on the project and accomplish things she never thought possible.

As we focus, we continue to grow and develop.  Greg McKeown stated:

Focus is more important than genius.

Even when one feels down and not adequate to accomplish their dreams, they need to refer back to this quote.  By focusing and being determined, stuff gets done!

ACTION:  Review your action plan for the rest of 2022.  Make any changes that you have thought about in the last week and determine how you will take time daily to focus and accomplish the plan.

Focus on the outcome not the obstacle. – Unknown

Where focus goes, energy flows. – Tony Robbins

We are halfway through the year and it is time to conduct a mid-year review on how life is going, progress toward goals and anything else the reader wants to analyze at this point in 2022.  The author knows this year has not been what she thought.  Plans and things she prayed for have not happened as she had hoped, but she can also say that things that she did not prepare for or expect to happen so early in the year have occurred so much faster and were to her benefit.

The author learned through this process that planning is great, but when things do not go as planned one has to change course and focus on the immediate task at hand.  She has been learning this skill for almost a year now and is proud of herself for how she handled the most recent situation.  Through this process, the author is still pondering why some things happen so easily and other events or activities feel like pulling teeth to accomplish.  Once she figures that out, she will pass on that knowledge!

As the reader review goals and create a plan to finish strong in 2022, use this time to focus on fulfilling actions, activities and tasks that will help the reader move closer to their destiny.

Focus on your greater goal, your destiny. – Robert Greene

ACTION:  Write down what has gone well in 2022.  Write down what has not gone well.  Create an action plan for the rest of the year to accomplish goals and create a plan of how to overcome or get through the difficult times.

America was not built on fear.  America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand. - President Harry S. Truman

The history of free men is never really written by chance but by choice; their choice! - Dwight D. Eisenhower

On Monday, our country will celebrate its independence.  Why is July 4th so important?  In 1776 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 12 out of the 13 original colonies voted to approve the Declaration of Independence.  Each person that voted for independence took a risk and lived a life of courage

Life rewards courage.

The person who is brave enough to bet on something or someone—as long as they avoid irreversible mistakes like running out of cash or going to jail—is in a position to win. – James Clear

ACTION: As we prepare to celebrate our country’s birthday, find something new and unique to do to celebrate our countries independence.
