Terri's Tuesday Tip of the Week - September 28th

Take responsibility to make great what you can make great. -  Clay Scroggins, How to Lead When You're Not in Charge: Leveraging Influence When You Lack Authority

Your potential to lead others is a direct result of how you lead yourself. – Craig Groeschel

How do the readers lead themselves?

No matter who the reader is or what their dreams are, leadership is an important aspect in accomplishing our dreams and goals.  As the author was thinking about this week’s blog, she thought about the term “self-leadership”.

According to Sermon Central, John Maxwell says self-leadership is holding oneself to a higher standard of accountability than the standard other people do.  What standard does the reader hold themselves to?  How was this standard established?

In the coming weeks, the author will talk about how self-leadership has impacted her life with her professional and personal life.

ACTION:  Evaluate how you lead yourself.  Do you hold yourself to a higher standard than others do?

Terri's Tuesday Tip of the Week - September 21st

The greatest enemy to the life you want may be the life that you're living. - Craig Groeschel

Most impossible goals can be met simply by breaking them down into bite size chunks, writing them down, believing them and going full speed ahead as if they were routine. - Don Lancaster

Today marks 100 days until the end of the year.  It has been a crazy year for the author and not what she expected.  As she examined 2021 so far, she looked at the progress towards her goals.  She praised herself for the progress she has made and analyzed where she is need to make improvements and focus.

When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal. - Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich: The Landmark Bestseller Now Revised and Updated for the 21st Century

Knowing the rest of 2021 is not going to be a quiet time for the author, she prioritized the most important goals for the rest of the year and created her plan to complete them.  Additionally, she revised her daily routines for both her professional and personal lives to ensure she has the opportunity to complete her goals and continue to grow.  The author knows the only way she will accomplish her goals is when she is intentional and follows the plan she creates.  Craig Groeschel stated:

You have time for what you choose to have time for.

ACTION: This week, review the progress toward your goals.  What has worked well and what changes need to be made.  As fall starts tomorrow, a change in the seasons is a great time to change your routine.  Create a plan and soar on this journey in life towards your dreams!

Terri's Tuesday Tip of the Week - September 14th

Life is time management. – Oliver Burkeman

With consistency and reps and routine you're going to achieve your goals and get where you want to be. - Mandy Rose

Recently the author was talking with a friend and she said that over the last month and a half especially while in Texas she had no consistency.  The author has a very specific daily routine and during the recent events in her life she learned it was very hard to complete her daily routine.  The author would be up lifting weights and run at 4am and then start working at 6am Central Standard Time and work to 2pm.  After work, she helped with the various things that needed to be done to help with family matters.

The author needed her down time and rest when she returned to Virginia.  As the author is preparing to return to Texas again to assist her sister, she had to rethink her daily routine and how to create consistency in her life even when her regular routine cannot be maintained.

It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It's what we do consistently. - Anthony Robbins

Even during those times when we are so busy, we can create consistency by….

·       Waking up early to focus on the things important to accomplish.  As the author said, her workouts were vital for her and help her with her energy levels.

·       Prioritizing what is important to help move toward accomplishing goals and dreams.  There will be things that will not be accomplished and that has to be ok, but prioritizing will help the reader stay focused.

·       Creating a list of things to accomplish.  Even though the author has her automated daily routine including positive affirmations, Bible memorization, etc., seeing a written to-do list of all of the other activities to be accomplished helps the author plan.  Keep the to-do list to a manageable number of tasks because too many tasks could become overwhelming and paralyze the reader from accomplishing tasks.

·       Working at times when energy levels are the highest.  In an interview between Carey Nieuwhof and Andy Stanley, Nieuwhof discusses to focus on important tasks during “The Green Zone”, which is the time each day that is about 3–5 hours when we are most productive. (Working at Your Best – Part 1 & 2 – Podcast links below)

·       Developing an atmosphere that is best for the reader.  As the author has said many times, she loves to have the ocean waves playing in her apartment while working or reading because it creates calm and peace for her.  What helps the reader focus and accomplish tasks and goals?

·       Establishing a nightly routine to prepare for the next day.

Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying basic fundamentals. - E. James Rohn

ACTION: Design your plan to create consistency in your life as we move into fall next Wednesday (September 22nd).

Terri's Tuesday Tip of the Week - September 7th

Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth. - Henry David Thoreau, Walden

Your life will be a blessed and balanced experience if you first honor your identity and priority. - Russell M. Nelson

The reader may have noticed that there were not Terri’s Tuesday Tip of the Week for the last 2 weeks.  The author focused on her priorities over the last couple of weeks and wants to share a lesson that is very important for anyone pursuing their dreams.

On August 7, 2021, Mama Flow passed away.  It was a very hard situation for the author and her sister.  We lost both of our parents in the last 9 months.  During this time, things were changing regularly and flexibility was required daily.  The author had to make decisions about what her priorities were and where she would be present.  For the author, her sister and all of the responsibilities for her mother’s celebration of life became the priority.  The author chose to be present and support her family.  Other things were not completed and that was very difficult for the author.  However, she does not regret the decisions she made.

Your priorities aren’t what you say they are. They are revealed by how you live. - Anonymous

ACTION: Take time to evaluate your priorities and make sure that you are focusing on your top priorities including your family and your faith as we move into the fall season.
